Family of Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Shaw)
Joseph Wardill (1790 - 1878) fifth son of Jonathan Wardill (1745 - 1803) and Elizabeth Petty (1747 - 1835) married a local girl Elizabeth Shaw (1786 - 1863) onJanuary 11 1819. All their children, as Josephs brothers and sisters, were born in Goathland Yorkshire. Initially Joseph farmed Green End Farm and later took over Ashes Farm, Ruswarp near Whitby. The farm was subsequently farmed by his surviving son James.
