Family John Wardil and Elizabeth
In the records of Goathland parish
for 1753 for contributions to the Poor Law Relief Fund
a John Wardil made his first contribution of 2s 9d. He made these contributions
up until the year
1773 when he contributed 2s 3d. The following year 1774, Jonathan Wardel started
contributing
with an identical payment of 2s 3d. Due to the change over in contribution (which
correspond
with John's death) between John and Jonathan we assume that there is a family
connection between
them and that Jonathan is probably the son of John
John Wardil burial entry is in the
Goathland Parish Records, and In 1799
Elizabeth Wardill's entry names her as relict of John.
John and Elizabeth are then the oldest members of the family we can find and they probably had a son Jonathan born 1745. We know of no other children.
